Waltenegus Dargie

Associate Professor

I am with the Chair of Computer Networks at the TU Dresden, leading the Energy Lab research team.

My research activities are related to energy efficient computing, wireless communications, and probabilistic digital signal processing. The first aspect deals with reducing the energy consumption of large scale servers. Some of the approaches I investigate refer to the estimation, modelling and prediction of workloads, resource utilisation, and energy consumption. The second aspect deals with establishing self-managing, adaptive, and resource (energy) efficient networks. These networks may consist of mobile or static nodes; they can be established with a premeditated long-term plan or in an impromptu fashion to carry out some immediate task. In either case, the networks should be able to self-organise, maintain topology, and utilise resources efficiently. The third aspect deals with the use of various probabilistic signal processing techniques to process sensor data.
